JoSTC 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗘 “𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘁.”

The JoSTC has just released its inaugural 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗨𝗘, titled “𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝘁.”

This Special Issue delves into the design, delivery, and implementation of training programs for biological and chemical security, drawing on insights from both scholars and practitioners. Some papers also incorporate examples from nuclear security education, showcasing specific methods and strategies utilized in security training.

The Issue highlights two key themes:

• The use of active learning methods to promote professional responsibility and practice-based competence.
• The institutionalization of training to enhance access to specialized knowledge in biological and chemical security.
