On 21 December 2020, the Regulation (EU) 2020/2171 of the European Parliament and of the Council has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union (L 432/4).
On 18 November 2020, the Council published an informal version of the final compromise text of the new EU Export Control Regulation (Recast of the Dual-Use Regulation 428/2009).
The Chaudfontaine Group with the support of the European Commission elaborated a new method for enhancing dual use trade controls in EU third countries. In May 2020, the content has been reviewed and updated to include new dual use trade control concerns.
On 5 June 2019, EU ambassadors agreed the Council’s negotiating position on a proposed recast of the regulation setting up a regime for the controls of exports, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer of dual-use items.
The annexed table sums up legislation in force in Belgium for the following categories of controlled items :Conventional weapons; Dual-use goods and technologies; Goods which could be used for capital punishment, torture or other cruel, inhuman or degradating treatement or punishment.
